Dina Bonnevie is an award-winning actress in the Philippines. In 1979 with Joey Gosingfiao at the helm, she landed her first acting assignment in the campy “Temptation Island.” But, the latter year, via Joey Gosingfiao’s, Regal Films launched her to lead star drama teleserye “Katorse” opposite boyfriend, Alfie Anido. On April 18, Wednesday at The Frazzled Cook, Sct. Gandia St., Quezon City, Dina admitted to the interview there is a young actress that she confront because of the young actress acting like a diva. The unnamed celebrity was always late and superior towards co-stars.Dina told to the interview how she confronts the young celebrity, she said,
“Talagang… I gave her hell. “Talagang sinabihan ko siya, ‘Who do you think you are? Are you famous? Who are you? What name have you made? Have you carved your name in stone in showbiz? Your call is at 9 o’clock and you come down from your van at 12 o’clock na naka-pajama? Really?’
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Hindi pa ipinapanganak ang mambabastos sa akin. If you want to continue taping this soap like this, do it yourself.’
“E, yung leading man ko dun, ganun din, ‘Yeah, tell her! Grabe na! Grabe na!’ Di ko na ine-name names pero talagang.."
Dina replied when she was asked if the young actress she is referring to is popular, she stated,
“Ngayon, hindi. Sa tingin ko, hindi. Andiyan lang siya… She didn’t really like… make it like… big. E, kasi nga, attitude, e! “Yung parang… grabe, huh, parang feeling mo, ikaw na ang reyna dito, ganun-ganun. Pero lahat kami, kasi, mga senior stars kami noon, talagang pinaghihintay niya kami lagi. “Aalis siya pag lunch time, babalik siya, alas-tres na. Sabi ko, ‘Hello?’ Tapos, kami, hintay kami nang hintay. “Hanggang sabi na ng leading man ko, ‘Tell her na, Miss D! Come on, you know! Let’s not allow her ganyan-ganyan.’ I’m so tired. “Pagdating na pagdating niya, ang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Where are you going, Tita?’ “Sabi ko, ‘We’re going to leave. What did you think, we were born to wait for you? Excuse me, who do you think you are?’ “Sabi ko, ‘Are you somebody? Excuse me. You haven’t made a mark. Have you proven yourself at least in acting? You You can’t even cry.’ “Isusumbong daw niya ako sa nanay niya. Sabi ko, ‘Sige, papuntahin mo dito. Magsu-showdown kami dito ng nanay mo.’ “Ayun, sa kagaganyan niya, naungusan pa siya ng isang supporting actress sa soap na ‘yon!”
Dina has also an advice:
“Iyon na nga ang sinasabi ko, para magtagal kayo sa industriya, number one, you have to love what you do. “You have to really appreciate that gift, treasure it, keep it, and talagang ano… be professional. “Kasi, kung hindi ka pa nga sikat, e, kung umasta ka, akala mo ikaw na yung reyna ng buong taping, teka lang… “Minsan, nakakarinig ka ng, ‘Bakit yung damit ko, nya-nya-nya?’ Hindi nga kami naggaganyan…”
