On the DZMM program "Ma-Beauty Po Naman," a specialist on sleep medicine and an associate professor in the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Patrick Gerard Moral stated that people should not sleep for higher than 9 hours but not less than 5 hours.
He also said that due to the oversleeping, a person's cortisol levels might spike. He also explains that cortisol works as the body's normal form of "steroids." There is a greater probability that a person's blood pressure might go up if these cortisol increase. This may also drove to skin difficulties. The doctor added that the person who oversleeps have a developed danger of cardiovascular illness. According to him,
"Mas higher risk for cardiovascular [disease], mga karamdamang tungkol sa puso at mga ugat natin."
The associate professor added that in between the day to have complete hours of sleep, the people could have a "power nap." In sum, the perfect sleep should be over 20-30 minutes. It is should not go higher than 60 minutes or an hour. The doctor also informed people that before they sleep, they should let go of gadgets or anything that might release radiation.
The light that was coming from the screens of it can affect the melatonin which it makes more hard for people to sleep.
He added that the person's state of sleep is straight equal to the melatonin levels given. As stated by the Huffington Post, the cognitive impairment, depression, increased pain and inflammation, impaired fertility, higher risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke was some of the effects of oversleeping to people's health.
