In Dubai, a Filipino lost his life because of a stroke while looking for a job, almost a month after flying to the city with a visit visa. Dubai, UAE- In Dubai, a Pinoy di*d because of the stroke last November 20, Monday, while looking for a job almost a month after flying in the city with a visit visa, the Filipino Times learned. Jose Arnold Aguilar of Cotabato, a forty-five-year-old man who has a job in Dubai for five years as a chef but in 2014 he quit his job because of his argument with his employer over salary. He came back again this year because he wants to try his luck once again in the city.As stated by Reynaldo Angulo, who is a volunteer social worker at Rashid Hospital and who also working on the repatriation of Aguilar's corpse. Angulo added that Aguilar was staying at Jafilia. He then confined at Rashid's Hospital's Intensive Care Unit because of the stroke on November 13 and died on November 20. Beth Fabric, the long-time friend of Aguilar said to The Filipino Times that Aguilar contacts her about the job opportunities.
Beth Fabric added that Aguilar was named "Chef Arns" in their community. The total of Aguilar's hospital bills was Dh28,000(Php386,577), whereas Angulo said that the repatriation of Aguilar's remains was estimated around Dh16,000(Php220, 901). Angulo added that he is working with the insurance company to find out how much cost is the covered of Aguilar's repatriation.
Vice Consul Marianne Bringas, the heads of Consulate General's Assistance to Nationals, who handle the case said that the Assistance to Nationals(ATN) officer is already watching into the matter yet Angulo, who has the one who handles the repatriation of the corpse of the departed OFWs for years. Angulo said that it will save the embassy if they appeal the insurance money almost half of the cost. Aguilar's visit visa was processed by Cozmo Travel.
